Aligned continuity family
« Rescue Bots »

The Transformers: Rescue Bots toyline is released under Hasbro's Playskool Heroes brand, the latest of many Transformers lines to be aimed at the preschool demographic.

Toys

2011-2012

Beginning in late 2011, the Rescue Bots toyline's initial offerings are noticeably divergent from the cartoon that they inspired, featuring different robot stylings and a mostly different human cast. Some of the last product before the line's Energize refresh, the Mobile Headquarters and Bots & Robbers playsets, began to feature changes to align with the cartoon, such as a show-accurate Cody Burns and blue coloration for Chase.

Figures

The Figures assortment consists of individual human figures with basic articulation, and a piece of Rescue Gear each.

The Rescue Bot assortment consists of autotransforming figures, which can hold Rescue Gear in robot mode.

Electronic Figures

Electronic Figures are larger, non-transforming figures, featuring lights and sounds, and a human partner figure.

Playsets

Available at a number of pricepoints, playsets each include a human figure, and a basic Rescue Bot with a RPM-style "transformation" that they can ride in.

2013 (Energize)

For 2013, Rescue Bots was refreshed with the Energize branding, which saw most toys feature blue, 'powered-up' color-schemes and weapons. It was also at this point that the line began to tie itself more closely to the Rescue Bots cartoon, with package art and new toy molds being based on the show's character models.

Figure 2-Packs

Figure 2-Packs include a PVC Rescue Bot with basic articulation and a static human partner figure. Unlike previous merchandise, the robots and humans are based on the models of the Rescue Bots cartoon.

Wave 2

Singles Packs

Singles Packs repackage the Rescue Bot figures from the 2-Pack assortment without their human partner.

Rescue Bots

For the Energize subline imprint, the original Rescue Bot toys were partially redecoed in clear blue plastic, and retooled to include new rescue tools and additional 5mm ports to hold them in vehicle mode.

Wave 1

Wave 2

Flip Changers

Flip Changers are larger figures, sporting a gimmick whereby pulling a lever causes the toy to roll forward briefly before flipping over into robot mode.

Electronic Figures

The Electronic Figures are again larger, non-transforming toys with lights and sounds, although no longer including a human partner.

Playsets

Beam Box Game System

The Beam Box Game System is a basic video games console, inspired by the popular Skylanders model. The player places a static Rescue Bots figure into the eponymous "Box" and pushes a button, "transporting" the character into the video game.

Unreleased figures

Chase's Beam Box figure was solicited as part of the assortment's first wave, but appears to have never been released. The reason for this becomes apparent if one "fools" the Beam Box console's simple, button-based recognition system into thinking a Chase figure has been placed inside – the controls for the Chase game do not respond, effectively freezing the console until it is reset. Apparently Hasbro simply neglected to release Chase rather than recall and/or re-manufacture the Beam Box itself.

2014

2014 saw another theme for Rescue Bots in the form of new alternate modes, including both vehicles and dinosaurs, seemingly in a loose tie-in to the concurrent Age of Extinction franchise. Dinosaur-themed toys sport Roar and Rescue branding on the back of their packaging, but unlike Energize there is no line-wide subtitle. Much of the year's product apparently suffered paint budget cuts, with packaging stock photography often showing significantly more paint operations than the final toys.

Smaller successors to the Rescue Bot assortment, Rescan toys are brand-new molds of previous characters, with new alternate modes.

Mini Dinos

Mini Dinos are small autotransforming figures with new dinosaur alternate modes.

Wave 2

Epic Figures

The Epic Figure assortment consists of 12-inch tall non-transforming figures with basic articulation. Their chests open up to fit a 2-Pack human figure, and they feature 5mm ports to interact with Energize rescue tools.

Epic Optimus Prime stands at an even taller 22 inches, opening to reveal a command center for smaller figures and again able to interact with 5mm rescue tools.

Electronic toys

Heatwave and the larger Optimus Primal feature electronic lights and sounds and, in Primal's case, can also transform into robot mode.

Mixable, Mashable Heroes!

Branded as Rescue Bots, presumably due to the Playskool connection, this line of Transformers-themed Mr. Potato Head toys is entirely unrelated to the rest of the line.
