The Sun is a mass of incandescent gas, a gigantic nuclear furnace where hydrogen is built into helium at a temperature of millions of degrees.

It is orbited by an indeterminate number of planets, asteroids, and other objects. The most notable of these bodies is the planet Earth, which in addition to a native population of humans is also a battleground in the conflicts fought by Transformers. As a result of the latter, Decepticons often seek to make use of the sun in various ways, be it tapping into its power, hurtling things into it, or just plain blowing it to smithereens.
