Too bad it's part of a plot by the Decepticons to hold humans hostage with the Destructor Button.

Condo City was among the 98 Global Building Corporation buildings that were pulled into the earth to hold its occupants hostage when Megatron pshed the Destructor Button. Megatron's plan was foiled when Mirage teleported to the controls, releasing the buildings. Optimus Prime followed up by destroying the Destructor Button. Battle for Earth
