Standing next to Exhaust, Fumes was one of many Decepticons in the Kaon gladiator arena to witness Megatron's execution of the corrupt Emirate Xeon, signaling the beginning of their uprising. The War Within #2
Fumes and Exhaust were in Iacon when Starscream's botched mechaforming attempt leveled the city. They were both unprepared when Shockwave ordered troops to fall back to Kolkular rather than be destroyed. The War Within #6

- This character is based on a gray version of a Diaclone toy that was never released as a Transformer.
- Despite never being released, a US patent was filed for the toy on September 27th, 1984... the same day as Blitzwing.
