- The Matrix Templars are a group of Transformers from the Universe portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
Not much is known about the Matrix Templars, other than that there are five of them [1] and that they have a unique physiology.[2] The three known Matrix Templars are:
They may be similar to Earth's Knights Templar, a Christian military order of warrior-monks.

As the battle between Cryotek and the Wreckers reached its conclusion, Rodimus and Cheetor used their abilities as Matrix Templars to draw much of the power of Primus out of Cryotek's grasp. Wreckers: Finale Part II
Snarl, the "One of Five," was sent by Primus and Alpha Trion to retrieve Optimus Primal from his holding cell. It is not specified whether his Matrix Templar affiliations allowed him to sneak past the sentries undetected and open a portal within Primal's cell, or if those are special abilities specific to Snarl.
