Just as humans have felt the need to set up shop on distant continents and faraway islands, the Transformers are a naturally expansionistic race. Their long history is frequently punctuated with interplanetary colonization efforts, creating a network of Transformer colonies scattered throughout the heavens.

In many universes, these efforts have been forgotten by the modern day, buried by the harsh realities of interplanetary war or simply the march of time. In a classic example of allopatric speciation, the Transformers stranded on these distant worlds tend to adapt to their new homeworlds, developing cultures and physiologies entirely separate from their Cybertronian ancestors.
