When the first trailer for the Bumblebee movie was released, every viewer assumed that this very very Starscream-y looking Decepticon, who features many design and transformation elements lifted from the original Generation 1 Seeker bodytype and the classic red and grey/white colours of the original Starscream... was obviously friggin' Starscream. A synopsis for the film posted on the official Viacom blog even referred to the treacherous Decepticon by name^[1]—only for the synopsis to be edited within hours to remove it. Director Travis Knight then stated at San Diego Comic Con 2019 that the Decepticon was, in fact, Blitzwing. Hmn. Yeah, we're as incredulous as you are.
Blitzwing was used as an early working name for Dark of the Moon Shockwave.^[2]
