Infestation (IDW)

Infestation is a multi-property crossover event that includes most of IDW Publishing's licensed properties at the time of publishing, as well as their original series Zombies vs. Robots and CVO: Covert Vampiric Operations. The story sees an outbreak of zombies enter other dimensions, including the realities of Transformers, Star Trek, G.I. Joe, and Ghostbusters. An eight-page preview was released in November 2010.
Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning (who used to work on most of these properties decades ago for Marvel UK) were the brain trust behind this series and the writers of Infestation issues 1 and 2 and The Transformers: Infestation issues 1 and 2. Nick Roche drew the Transformers portion of the crossover. The crossover event includes a two-part bookend story called simply Infestation, between which two-part stories from each property will be told. Interaction between properties is limited until the final issue of the bookend story.

Overview
The Transformers portion of the crossover deals with of how Galvatron's ship, taken over by zombies and zombified Sweeps crashes into a Las Vegas strip releasing the undead onto the city. Optimus and co. quickly arrive on the scene and square off Las Vegas to deal with the threat as well as Galvatron's forces, but when Kup is reminded of the pain he caused to the Autobot forces, his ravings accidentally reveal that one of Galvatron's own lackeys is in fact Britt, a manifestation of the vampire sent to this universe to bring about the zombie infestation.

Notes
- In case you're wondering: the G.I. Joe portion of the crossover sees a zombie computer-virus take over an underwater Cobra base, the Ghostbusters portion has the Ghostbusters' firehouse under attack and a zombified Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, and the Star Trek portion involves a Federation colony world enduring a zombie plague.
