The International Robotic Operations Network (I.R.O.N.) is a completely ordinary company. Garrison Kreiger, formerly Lieutenant "Blitz" of the U.S. Army, is its founder, and Count "Iron Klaw" van Rani is its majority shareholder, and Tomax Paoli is the CEO. Gee, nothing suspicious or criminal about that. Nothing whatsoever!
In a different universe, the Invasion, Reconnaissance, Occupation, and Neutralization Army, otherwise known as the I.R.O.N. Army, is the elite military force of the Axis-aligned nation Kalistan. They have such a name because their leader, General Garrison "Blitz" Kreiger, has a flair for the dramatic.

During World War II, the I.R.O.N. Army acquired Cybertronian technology. The intelligence apparatus of the Allied Powers suspected this but did not discover the full extent. Meanwhile, the I.R.O.N. Army captured U.S. Army Sergeant Robert Steven Savage and experimented upon him with Cybertronian technology. In the modern day, the I.R.O.N.
