- The Scientist is a Quintesson from the Cyberverse continuity family.
Eerily patient, methodical, and eccentric even by the loose standards of his species, the Scientist acts as the brains behind the endless travails of the Quintessons and their quest to pass judgement upon the entirety of the multiverse. Part logistical coordinator, part engineer, and part research and development specialist, the Scientist is a busy alien, tasked with the development and creation of each new Quintesson judge.
However, he always finds time to tend to his growing "collection": a menagerie of frozen Soundwaves plucked from each doomed universe he and his kind pass judgement upon.

The Scientist was charged with the task of creating all the judges of convicted universe by merging local species. During so, he developed a habit of collecting various versions of Soundwave before their universes were destroyed.
The Scientist managed to complete his newest judge by adding Starscream to the mix, and once they reached Cybertron and captured the Cybertronians, set about creating the loop while draining their sparks and the Allspark. During so, Soundwave and Hot Rod managed to break into his lab to free their friends. Eager to have another Soundwave to add to his collection, the Scientist was horrified to find Soundwave was improperly disconnected from the loop, fixing him only to get blasted. After going through multiple bodies to incapacitate the intruders, the Scientist gloated long enough for Soundwave to send Laserbeak with the loop's source code. Horrified at the escaping Cybertronians, the Scientist raged at Soundwave and Hot Rod only to get knocked out while they escaped.
The Judge severely berated him for putting the new judge at risk, but the Scientist reassured them that judgement of the universe would come at the scheduled time. In the meanwhile, he attacked the infiltration squad of Cybertronians that had the goal of sabotaging the Multiverse Drive. The finalized Judge was soon born, but Starscream, it's dominant personality, refused to judge the universe until he could get revenge on Optimus Prime and Megatron. The Scientist later sent Croaton to deal with Iaconus before dealing with Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Wheeljack, the latter of which managed to find his true self and smash him, bringing the Scientist's existence to a permanent end.
