If you have just installed MediaWiki

You probably installed from Git, or directly from the source code using some other method. This is expected. Try installing some skins from mediawiki.org's skin directory, by:

Downloading the tarball installer, which comes with several skins and extensions. You can copy and paste the skins/ directory from it.
Downloading individual skin tarballs from mediawiki.org.
Using Git to download skins.

Doing this should not interfere with your Git repository if you're a MediaWiki developer.

If you have just modified LocalSettings.php: Double-check the skin names for typos.

A sparkling is a metaphorical child of a Transformer. Bots spawned from the hot spots carried by a colony Titan are sometimes referred to as sparklings of their Titan.

Notes

The term "sparkling" originated in some parts of the fandom to refer to the idea of a Transformer child, often a literal "baby" robot. It was canonized in Windblade vol. 2 #4 to carry the similar connotation described above.
