The Argon Sea is a gaseous sea on Cybertron. It's one of only three known seas, the others being the Rust Sea and Mithril Sea. Beneath its cloud-like surface exists a massive realm of mechanimals, and it becomes a true liquid sea as one travels deeper down into it. The Argon Sea hosts both guardians and dangers within...

The Sea is stratified into three high-visibility layers, separated by thinner layers of purple-blue gas. Dense areas of kelp-like spires rise up in the first layer, which serve as home to flying Arthropods. The depths are also home to various sapient forms of life. The second is dominated by skyscraper-like pillars, while the third is a night-like layer with a blue-green floor.

Purple stuff.

Chromia and Bumblebee dove into the Argon Sea using an Autobot shuttle, following a shark that had stolen the comatose body of Windblade. The Autobots chased the wayward shark-bot into the second layer. The ship was set upon by a pack of energy-draining aquatic mechanimals, taking the shields offline. The beasts made their escape as Hammerbyte arrived once more, intent on attacking the occupants of the ship. Bumblebee successfully managed to subdue him with his stingers, falling into the depths in the process. On the ship, Chromia and Hammerbyte made their introductions, with the latter revealing the horror at the bottom of the Sea: an ancient and terrifying Titan, known only as the Dweller. The two descended into the final layer. Here they found Bumblebee, climbing deeper into the Dweller's hatch. As the crew exited the shuttle, a massive tentacle reared up at Hammerbyte and sprayed him with orange mind-control gas. Chromia had to contend with both Hammerbyte and Bumblebee, both of whom had fallen under the control of the Dweller. She raced through the Dweller's tunnels until she finally found the control room where Windblade was being kept. After a brief conversation with the Dweller, Chromia managed to use Bumblebee's stingers to subdue both him and Hammerbyte. The trio decided it was time for them to leave as more mind-control gas filled the room. With Windblade in tow, they flew the shuttle back up through the Sea and burst through the surface, narrowly avoiding the Dweller's tentacles. Although the shuttle was lost to its grasp, all of the occupants were able to successfully make it back to dry land. After a brief farewell, Hammerbyte returned to the Sea. Dweller In The Depths

Notes

  • The purplish hue that bathes the Argon Sea is reminiscent of the real-world element Argon, which glows violet when electrified. Furthermore, Argon is about 30% denser than Earth's atmosphere, meaning a large body of the substance would indeed pool at the lowest available altitude.
