From 2008 to 2010, IDW Publishing reprinted old issues of the Marvel's original G1 comic in full-color trade paperback omnibuses with a cover price of $19.99. Each volume collects a sequential series of issues, with text summaries by Stuart Denyer replacing those issues featuring copyrighted characters such as Spider-Man or Circuit Breaker.
IDW have also released single issues digitally. For a short time via http://www.classic-transformers.com (dead link) and later via the IDW comics App.
In volume 5, Marvel gave permission to reprint issues with Circuit Breaker. Why they denied permission for earlier volumes is unknown.
IDW have stated that, of the "Classics" comics released via the comics app, "Issues #3 and #9 included some characters from the Marvel universe, including Spider-Man, So IDW cannot reproduce those."
