• Clearly Spike shares a rather uncommon last name with Sam Witwicky and his family. "Ask Vector Prime" would later established that his father is Ron Witwicky's brother. This makes Spike and Sam first cousins.
• Backfire and Bumblebee were partnered with Sam Witwicky in the Autobot Daredevil Squad exclusive multi-pack. Make of that what you will.
• Coincidentally, Sam was credited as Sam "Spike" Witwicky in the Latin American Spanish dub of Transformers. Yeah, that's not helping at all.
