Web Wars was an online game used to promote the then-upcoming Dark of the Moon film.

Web Wars is an epic online battle where any website is a potential warzone. Pledge your allegiance to the Autobots or Decepticons and claim your turf, take over your favorite websites and work your way up the scoreboard.{{#if:|{{{quote2}}}}}{{#if:|{{{2}}}{{#if:|, {{{3}}}|}}|}}

Gameplay

Players would first need to sign up for an account on the official Web Wars website before playing the game itself. A plug-in would be installed onto players' web browsers, so that they could encounter and battle robots of the opposite faction they had chosen, and do battle. More popular websites, such as Facebook or Wikipedia, would draw more battles to them, earning the title of "top battleground." Battling on specific websites, such a MSN.com, could also earn players specific weapons, promoted on the Web Wars website.

Victories for both factions would be tallied up, adding a level of competition between players as they attempted to surmount those who had chosen the opposing faction. Individual players would also earn points based on their personal performance on defeating the robots the encountered across the web, and could climb the ranks of scoreboards for bragging rights. Trophies and new weapons could also be unlocked based on a player's performance. After each battle, a player's health would regenerate, allowing them to play for hours on end! Reportedly, it was very addictive.
