Elected to the office of High Chancellor of Cybertron, Sentinel Prime seemed to be a 'bot who cared about all his constitutuents' sparks. Ask Vector Prime However, rising stars Optimus and Megatron uncovered the Sentinel Prime's government's scandalous ties to the Liege Maximo, TransTech Optimus Prime profile including the experiments of Jhiaxus, to which Sentinel Prime had secretly diverted funding to. Ask Vector Prime This revelation was so severe that it nearly brought Cybertron into civil war, and in its aftermath numerous officials were convicted and imprisoned. TransTech Optimus Prime profile Sentinel resigned rather than face impeachment. At the time, Vector Prime believed that Sentinel was not fully aware of the magnitude of the horrors Liege was playing with.

Some time after leaving office, Sentinel expressed concern that he was not doing everything he possibly could to aid the TransTechs' evolution. Wary of asking others to participate in experimentation after the Liege Maximo incident, he began a series of cutting-edge experiments to bridge the gap between the physical robot form and the energy-based spark, using his own body. During his final experiment, Sentinel disappeared, leaving behind only a smoldering body. However, an autopsy found no carbon scoring in his laser core.
