Payload is a member of G.I. Joe from the G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Payload, a.k.a. Mark Morgan, Jr., was inspired by the space launches he watched from his childhood home to become a pilot and, later, an astronaut. He's prepared his whole life for spaceflight, which make his whispered chants of "Vroom! Vroom!" all the more embarrassing.

Payload was one of the many Joes sent to the planet Cybertron after its Decepticon representatives proved themselves to be enemies of the human race. Payload acted as one of the pilots for the Defiant craft, which ran afoul of both Devastator and Trypticon during one of their attacks. As the Defiant was brought down by the mechanical giants, Payload and the rest of the team were told to reconvene at Green Zone 0-8-6, a safe zone on the otherwise hostile planet. Targetmasters
