Nemesis Prime is a Unicron-aligned Decepticon and later Autobot from the 2003 Universe series. His base materials originate from the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.
WOOLLY BULLAAAY. Woolly bully.

A Herald of Unicron, Nemesis Prime is a dark clone of an Optimus Prime from a dimension who was left for dead by Megazarak to rot on the shores of the Rust Sea.[1]

The Prime was cloned by Unicron and awoke slowly to the dark god's torture. Completely broken, this Prime is an eternal servant and begs for the consuming nothing of Unicron's victory over the multiverse. Anything is preferable to the flood of infinite suffering that is his existence.

His only weakness is what tiny, rotten portion is left of his honor. He carries the Dead Matrix within him, possibly the only thing that can kill Unicron's enemy, Primus.

He later takes the name Black Convoy.

A Habitrail, right through your twisted spark!

Nemesis Prime's template came from Aurex 304.0 Epsilon. Ask Vector Prime Nemesis Prime and Ramjet arrived via dimensional portal over an abandoned Cybertron threatened by the Unicron Singularity. Quickly, they attempted to amass followers to aid them in their attempt to unleash Nemesis Prime's Dead Matrix on Primus's essence, allowing their master Unicron a posthumous victory.

Their first stop was Maccadam's Old Oil House, where they found a pair of Decepticons, Jackhammer and Crush Groove. When the pair were unwilling to join them, Nemesis and Ramjet quickly dispatched them. Nemesis realized what was left of Cybertron's inhabitants were useless to them, and so Ramjet suggested they pay a visit to Alpha Trion themselves.

Alpha Trion, deep within Cybertron with Vector Sigma, was flanked by Vector Prime and Sentinel Maximus. Ramjet kept Vector Prime busy, and Sentinel Maximus was unable to prevent Nemesis Prime from grabbing Alpha Trion by the head and slamming him into Vector Sigma. After a blast from Ramjet, Alpha Trion and Vector Sigma both lay in ruins, and the two servants of Unicron made their escape. Balancing Act

Don't worry, Nemesis. He never succeeds at anything.

Standing on the corpses of more destroyed Transformers, Nemesis Prime and Ramjet enlisted Scrapmetal drones to interface with the planet's computer systems to find Primus' spark core chamber. Balancing Act, Part 2 After Ramjet enlisted the Velocitronian, Skyfall, with promises of telling of him about his forgotten past, Balancing Act, Part 3 Nemesis Prime's search for the location of Primus' essence was finally complete. They found Downshift guarding it, and Nemesis pinned him to the wall with one of his hip-harpoons. But Downshift had alerted Vector Prime and Sentinel Maximus, and the two Autobots arrived quickly to prevent them from reaching Primus' spark. Balancing Act, Part 4

Now darken our brightest hour!

Nemesis Prime found himself facing Sentinel Maximus again, and they battled each other while traveling down the hallways leading to the spark core chamber. Unfortunately for Sentinel, Nemesis was able to blast the tunnel behind him, leaving Sentinel alone with Primus' spark core. Wasting no time, Nemesis Prime revealed the Dark Matrix from his chest compartment, and its evil energies began filling the room. Balancing Act, Pt 5

However, Nemesis Prime was suddenly taken down by Viron Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus, who had been teleported by Over-Run to this Cybertron en route from the end of the Universe War. Nemesis Prime suffered heavy damage at the hands of Ultra Magnus and was sealed away inside an energon damping cell, while the Dead Matrix was locked away in the Archives. Alternity

Nine hundred thousand years after Nemesis Prime was defeated in battle by the Autobots, he was inducted into the Alternity, a race of highly evolved Transformers who can travel the multiverse at will, healing his damaged mind with the enlightenment that this new state of being conferred. His "Vector - 704" Auto-avatar, a black Nissan GT-R, allowed him to blend in on modern-day Earth, where he aided the Alternity in their mission. He secretly wished to take his revenge against Unicron, but he knows his current mission against the greater threat of the Hytherion was more pressing. Because of his past, he was more ruthless in battle than his peers.[2]

After Megatron gained powers equal to those of the Alternity by bonding himself to the hyper-dimensional beast known as the Hytherion, Nemesis Prime battled the auto-avatar of the Megatron Aggregate's leader in a barren, burning landscape. Exploiting Megatron's unfamiliarity with higher-dimensional combat, Nemesis Prime easily trapped the Decepticon within a closed time-loop, where he was repeatedly struck by the same laser blast over and over again, until he was reduced to scrap. Following the battle, Nemesis Prime was approached by Protector Elita Seven, who had been observing the fight and took issue with Prime's brutal methods. When she addressed him as a "deity", he told her to call him "Knight of Darkness" instead. Arch-Nemesis!

Some time later, Nemesis Prime, now going by the personal name Black Convoy, became a member of the Convoy, a group of thirteen Optimus Primes and their kin assembled in Nexus 208.0 Epsilon to address dire changes to the stability of the multiverse. His name was on a list of Convoy members given to Andromeda by Cheetor, which noted that he also went by the moniker "Nemesis Prime". Ironically, he was now working alongside his old enemies, the Sentinel Maximus of Primax 797.18 Epsilon and the Optimus Prime of Viron 903.0 Beta. Andromeda - Axiom Nexus News Reporter

Toys

Universe (2003)

  • Nemesis Prime (Ultra, 2004)
    • Accessories: Missile launcher, 2 missiles, 2 "scythe" missiles, Dead Matrix
Universe Nemesis Prime is a Target-exclusive redeco and retool of Beast Wars Neo Big Convoy, transforming into a woolly mammoth. His beast mode has no leg articulation, but has a rubber trunk which can be controlled by pushing a lever on the top of his head. In addition, the his tusks can be moved by pulling back either of his ears.
In robot mode, Nemesis Prime is absolutely chock-full of weapons and gimmicks:
  1. His spring-loaded cannon, formed out of the beast's head, back, and tail, can fire two missiles from two barrels in succession with a rotating dial. It is held in his hands via 5mm post and can be stored on his back, though doing so may cause some stability problems owing to its weight.
  2. His shoulders can be swung up to reveal sculpted, non-firing missile pods.
  3. He has flip-out tonfa melee weapons in his forearms.
  4. The two beast panels on the sides of his legs feature two spring-loaded missile launchers that fire his hook-shaped projectiles.
  5. His chest panel flips down, revealing the Dead Matrix, painted black with a transparent red center. This accessory can be held by any figure with standard 5mm fist holes.
Nemesis Prime also technically has a third mode, known as the "Devastation Mode", in which his cannon is folded out in mammoth mode, and the spring-loaded missile launchers on the mammoth's side panels are deployed.
Nemesis Prime is a renowned shellformer, as practically all of his beast mode kibble are shells that fit around the compressed robot to form this mode. Not helping matters, his instructions show you how to transform him from mammoth to robot... despite the fact that he is packaged in robot mode. This, along with the fact that several parts were turned backwards to better fit into the box, makes him rather difficult to correctly transform.
His two "scythe" missiles and the leg panels his launchers are on have been slightly retooled from the original version of this mold, with the missiles no longer being able to be inserted as deeply as before, and the panels being remolded to accommodate them. Unfortunately, this tooling change actually prevents the panels from attaching securely in mammoth mode, meaning the missiles have to be removed for transformation. Additionally, the tonfa compartments on his forearms are now removable, with their joints being detachable plastic hinges instead of fixed pin hinges.
Nemesis Prime was released in Japan as a "USA Edition" toy, and was sold exclusively at JUSCO stores starting on August 5, 2004.
This mold was also used to make Beast Wars Neo Black Big Convoy and Timelines Ultra Mammoth.

Alternity

Once I wasn't just every-evil-Optimus-Prime's colors.
  • Convoy Super Black (2009)
    • Japanese ID number: A-01
A redeco of the mold already used to created Alternity "Convoy Ultimate Silver" and "Convoy Vibrant Red", Convoy Super Black transforms into a 1:32 scale Nissan GT-R, featuring die-cast metal parts, an opening hood, trunk and doors, as well as an interior, complete with his feet and thighs being sculpted to form the back seats. This complex figure stands at 6.5" tall, and is armed with a pair of blasters on each arm.
The mold suffers from a minor design oversight, wherein the rear Nissan badge collides with his left leg strut when the left foot is hinged over and pegged into a clear plastic socket during transformation, with the results being that the connection is slightly crooked, isn't very secure, and sometimes pops off, and that the crooked pegging often causes the socket to crack.
This mold was also used to make Ultra Magnus and Alternity Dai Atlas.

Notes

  • Alternators Nemesis Prime's bio makes vague reference to that character's life force coming from an "extra-spatial power source of unheard of proportions." According to the author of the bio, the power source was related to Unicron, and when Doctor Arkeville accessed it to animate his creation, he received a spark fragment from the cloning experiments that created this Nemesis Prime.[citation needed]
  • Nemesis Prime and Robots in Disguise Optimus Prime seemed to recognize one another on their first encounter. Nemesis probably recognized Optimus as a version of his former self, and Optimus probably mistook Nemesis as Scourge. Alternate universes are fun!
