"I've got a plan, if all of you have the cast-iron manifolds for it."-Prowl, The Ultimate Doom, Part 1

Manifolds are piping elements that handle and distribute a flow of fluid. What function or form they have in Transformer bodies is uncertain. Metaphorically speaking, to say that one has durable manifolds is to say that they have courage, resolve, or strength of will.

Example usage:

  • "Carblast's got brass manifolds. He insulted Grimlock."

Clearly, Carblast is quite courageous.

  • "Carblast's got manifolds of steel. He insulted Grimlock to his face and painted his room pink and baby blue."

Steel is stronger than brass, so this reveals greater courage yet.

  • "Did you hear about Carblast? Grimlock pounded him into metal filings with a can of Nebulan waste products."

There can be too much of a good thing.

Oddly enough, this usage seems analogous to references made by humans to parts of their own anatomy used in fabrication and transmission of reproductive data. It is unclear whether Transformer manifolds share the vulnerability of these components to a direct impact, and we sure wouldn't let the female Transformers know if they did.
