Sandstorm is Dusty's pet coyote. Together, they specialize in desert ops, able to excel in the hottest and driest places on Earth.

Sandstorm was outfitted with some high-tech weaponry and placed in U.S.7, a team of non-human G.I. Joes. Their first mission was to escort G.I.Rockets to the alien world of Cybertron. En route, they were accosted by the Oktober Guard, who boarded their ship. Just as a firefight broke out between both team, the battle was interrupted by Fortress Maximus snatching U.S.7's rocket out of the sky and gobbling up both teams! Form Follows Function
