Townsend Coleman

"I am that jerk!"

Townsend Coleman (born May 28, 1954) is an American voice actor. Coleman has done voices for many, many cartoons: though he is best known for his role as the title character in The Tick animated series (coincidentally also voice directed by Susan Blu), and Michaelangelo in the 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series. He has also done Inspector Gadget, the animated version of Fraggle Rock, and Batman: The Animated Series, and many others.

He was one of the commercial announcers for Hub Network, and for years was the voice of NBC's Must See TV and the promoter for The Tonight Show.

Notes

• At the Cartoon Network panel at BotCon 2008, it was revealed that much of Sentinel Prime's character design evolved after Townsend Coleman was cast for the role, specifically the visual cues to Coleman's earlier role as the Tick.

• Coleman is credited with voicing News Bot in "The Elite Guard", but the character does not actually appear in that episode.

• Coleman was the announcer for "Huboom!," the segment on Hub Network home to reruns of the original Transformers cartoon.
