- Stingers are Cobra vehicles from the Generation 1 continuity family.
The Cobra Stinger is an all-terrain armored vehicle resembling nothing so much as a large off-roading car with a missile launcher stuck to the back.

G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers
When Cobra unearthed a number of deactivated Transformers, they reprogrammed them and gave them new vehicle modes. The Autobot twins Sunstreaker and Sideswipe were modified into Stingers, and used these vehicle modes during the attack on the SPS Research Facility. Unfortunately for Cobra, their tough armored vehicles were easily rammed aside by a rally car. G.I. - Like many vehicles in the G. I. Joe toy line, the Stinger has parallels to a real-world machine, in this case, the Lamborghini Cheetah.
