Showdown of the gods.

Synopsis

The Sparkbots use the Angolmois energy they've collected at a pool on prehistoric Earth to restore Unicron. Primus and the Kiss Player girls follow, and Primus is able to seal away the still-weak Unicron and the Sparkbots. Much to Marissa's shock, Primus then creates the massive Brave Maximus, giving the gigantic Transformer the task of guarding the pool of dark energy.

His task done, Primus ignores the girls' question on just what the hell is going to happen next, and converts into a glowing golden sphere. The girls suddenly find themselves back in 2007, right when they originally left on their journey through time and space. Having had one major ride, the trio decide they're ready to make their own futures.

Notes

  • This issue recaps the rest of the final installment of the Kiss Player Position radio drama, which originally aired on March 26 of 2007.
  • Once again, the art gets sketchy and much more simplified in this installment, probably due to time crunch. (Japanese freelance comic artists are notorious for being so busy that sleep is a luxury.)
  • Just as Primus appears as the first toy he ever had, Unicron appears as his first toy... the canceled prototype originally made for 1986's line. Wow.
  • Okay. Are you ready for one major continuity pretzel? This issue is part of a long and complex string of retcons meant to blend a lot of disparate elements into a single timeline:
    • The whole Brave Maximus deal brings the events of the Car Robots cartoon into the timeline. Previously, the series was basically a stand-alone, with only some early (and ignored) promo material attempting to tie the series into the prior continuity.
    • The Primus-as-the-Transformers'-creator-god backstory is grafted in by making him into Vector Sigma so it does not contradict the cartoon's Quintesson origin, in a retcon similar to that used by 3H Productions for the Wreckers and Universe comics. Though Primus's Takara-crafted origin is ultimately different from the Hasbro-crafted one (check the timeline link for more info on that, it's too complex to go into here).
    • The Angolmois pool turns the planet "Gaea" from Beast Wars II, which was a mysterious alien world at the time of the series, into the Earth of the far-flung future.
