Merchandise

Convention-exclusive toys

This year's BotCon exclusive box set is called Games of Deception!, and it will include Thundercracker, Thrust, Dirge, Dreadwind and Bug Bite. All are slated to be redecoes of existing Classics figures.[1]

Many fans were extremely angered by the news that the three remaining 1984/85 Seeker characters were to be part of the convention-exclusive set, as Starscream, Skywarp and Ramjet were released at regular retail. There is no evidence whatsoever that the convention Seekers would have been released through any other means, however; in fact, since the sets must all go through Hasbro approval on numerous levels, the fact that they were put out in this manner heavily implies that they certainly weren't going to see normal retail release, as Hasbro is not shy about nixing convention toy plans in favor of doing them at retail.

Comics

The convention program will include a comic, also titled Games of Deception!. The BotCon brochure indicates that this story will revolve around a "mysterious Decepticon [making] his way towards Earth". (According to Pete Sinclair, this "mysterious Decepticon" is Bugbite.)
