The name or term Skywarp refers to more than one character or idea, which very much frightens the character featured here. For a list of other meanings, do not be afraid to see Skywarp (disambiguation).
Skywarp barely musters up the courage to be a Decepticon from the Transformers Animated continuity family.

Hear this, because it's only coming once: I surrender totally and without condition. Additional: Sorry to take up your valuable time. Sorry. Thank you. Sorry. Bye.

Skywarp, the Coward Starscream, is a Starscream clone embodying the original Starscream's cowardly side. He doesn't want to fight. He bruises easily! He has a doctor's appointment! Do you have any idea just how dangerous fighting is?! Sure, he's as fast, as strong and as well-armed as any other Starscream clone, but do you realise how many different micro-organisms can get in through one crack in his exo-structure? Imagine the rush from a battle wound. No, no...Skywarp's talents are put to much better use guarding the rear...or the middle, really, since they can sneak up on you from the rear.

Wait, someone is reading this? ARGH, WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!

Us? Against Megatron? Are you insane?! (whimpers) I... think I just sprang an oil leak.

—Skywarp, right after his activation, "A Bridge Too Close, Part I"

Fiction

Animated cartoon

Voice actor: The terrifying Tom Kenny (English), Kowai no Jin Yamanoi (Japanese), CowardAlexander Kovriznyh (Russian), Der schreckerregende Stefan Staudinger (German), Il terrificante Daniele Demma (Italian), El aterrorizado Alexis Quiroz (Latin American Spanish, seasons 1 and 2), Kari Tamminen (Finnish)
Oh no! A finger!

Skywarp was the second cowardly clone, created after the chicken-hearted Clone #3370318 was destroyed. He was the last clone brought online before Starscream led his new force to Earth, and was immediately terrified at the prospect of going up against Megatron. A Bridge Too Close, Part I

Surprisingly, at the start of the battle Skywarp charged in without a look of terror on his face and even took a shot at Megatron. He stopped shooting when Megatron started to deflect the laser with his terrifying swords. When Bumblebee started shooting at him, he mostly cowered and pleaded. Blurr got a pair of stasis cuffs on him, which absolutely terrified him, as he claimed that he had an irrational fear of stasis lock. But then both of them and Thundercracker were accidentally stuck in Mixmaster's glue-like cement and hurled into the space bridge, their destination unknown. A Bridge Too Close, Part II

Skywarp's personal hell only continued on the other side of the space bridge. He was trapped in glue on some desolate planetoid with Blurr and Thundercracker, and the substance was seeping into his circuitry! Even worse, Blurr's idea to get out of the glue was to release short wave sonic pulses, which Thundercracker did, causing an explosion. He could have been hurt! Fortunately, he wasn't. Needless to say, Skywarp did not join Thundercracker in pursuing the Autobot. He might have shot back! TransWarped

The Cool comic

Somewhere, someone is writing naughty fanfiction based on this scene.

Poor, timid Skywarp was lead into battle for the Decepticon space bridge along side his other members of the Clone Army. The battle was terribly dangerous, as both Megatron and Optimus Prime joined forces to kick his keister. The Cool Episode 7

Skywarp was terrified of being beaten (and being stepped on—that hurts!) by Megatron again and went along with the other clones to fight the incoming ship Orion, but the horrifying Omega Supreme wiped them all out. At least they went out fast! The Cool Episode 8

You want anxiety? We haven't told him he's a black repaint yet. (Hasbro Version Pictured)
(TakaraTomy Version Pictured)
  • Skywarp (Voyager, 2009)
    • Japanese ID number: TA-23
    • Accessories: 2 missiles
A redeco of Voyager Class Starscream, Skywarp transforms into a futuristic, forward-swept wing fighter jet based upon the Su-47 (S-37) Berkut Experimental Fighter and the YF-19 "Alpha One" from the series Macross Plus. Too bad he's afraid of flying and speed. This shape allows him to have his faction symbols right-side-up on his wings in robot mode. He features a pair of spring-loaded missile launchers, available in both robot and jet modes; both of them have sculpted shark faces on them. (Did he mention he's afraid of missiles and sharks?)
Oddly, he still has Starscream's sculpted evil smirk... maybe to hide that he's actually afraid of everything.
The Japanese release of the figure trades in his dark gray plastic for black, replaces some of the light metallic purple with silver, replaces the gold faction symbols with purple ones with a white border, has additional painted silver stripes on his wings and vertical stabilizers, and a white border on his cockpit window instead of black.
This mold was also used by Sunstorm and Thundercracker. He's afraid that the mold is used too much.

No, not Slipstream.
  • Skywarp Clear Purple Version (EZ Collection, 2010)
A redeco of Legends Starscream in translucent pinkish purple plastic (with some opaque pinkish purple parts). He was only available at Toys"R"Us stores in Japan on July 24th, given away for free to customers who purchased Animated merchandise totaling at least 3,000 yen.
This mold was also used to make Starscream Clear Purple Version, Thundercracker Clear Blue Version, Sunstorm Clear Orange Version, Ramjet Clear White Version, and Starscream Clone Black Version

  • Skywarp (Activator, 2010)
Now with more exclusive releases than regular toys!
A redeco of Activators Starscream, this Skywarp toy is smaller and simpler than the Voyager and features a spring-loaded autotransformation gimmick that springs him from jet mode to robot mode in one easy step. This toy was only available in Japan as a prize in a lottery held in association with Family Mart.
This mold was also used to make Dirge, Thundercracker and Ramjet.

Notes

  • Skywarp was announced as a toy at BotCon 2008's Hasbro toy panel. The Hasbro presenters were pretty insistent that he was developed as a non-show character, simply a way to re-use the Voyager Starscream mold. He prays silently that there are no signs of mold degradation.
  • This robo-chicken may be justified in his outlook on life, as a previous cowardly clone ended his career as an explosive device. Ack! Don't give anybody IDEAS!
Skywarp's blue period.
  • Skywarp's colour scheme, name and powers were taken from Generation 1 Skywarp. Oh lord, does he want them back?!
  • Skywarp's given name in the scripts for the episodes in which he appeared was "Coward Starscream". The fact that people now know his name no doubt terrifies him.
  • His bio states that he has teleportation powers like his Generation 1 counterpart, but he's definitely not brave enough to push anyone down the stairs. They might get back up!
  • The first image of the Family Mart raffle prize Activators Skywarp showed him with dark blue parts instead of violet (see right). Whether this error was due to colors shifting in photography or some other factor is unknown.
  • Cyclonus may be his alternate future counterpart.
