In the aftermath of Megatron's invasion of Earth, G.I. Joe became aware of the existence of Cobra Commander and his terrorist organization, Cobra. The Joes battled them in secret, leading to the destruction of the country of Nanzhao, an act only second to Megatron's invasion, and the Joes' existence being made public.
