During WW2, Kalistan was part of the Axis powers. Sgt. Savage of the Allied forces suspected their elite I.R.O.N. Army had extra-terrestrial help, and investigated, only to go missing.
Decades later, Hawk of G.I. Joe would find Savage in suspended animation. Once he was defrosted, Savage led a group of Joes, the Screaming Eagles, in investigating Kalistan, whose ruler - one Count Von Rani - was suspected to be involved with the ruthless terrorist organization S.K.A.R.
