Velocity (G1)
| The name or term "Velocity" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Velocity (disambiguation). |
- Velocity is a Camien Autobot from the IDW portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Velocity is fairly new at this whole "universal adventuring" thing, and she's only recently passed her medical exams. Despite that, she's enthusiastic, skilled, has the right bedside manner, and learning on-the-job fast. Having served on the Vis Vitalis and now the Lost Light, she's ready and willing to put her medical skills to good use! However difficult her quests get, she has no regrets.;
As someone from Caminus, she missed the Autobot-Decepticon war and has no preconceptions when she meets former Decepticons like Megatron.
Sometimes she is known by the nickname Lotty.
Fiction
IDW Generation 1 continuity
Born on Caminus, she was in a sorority on with Nautica and Firestar. She was never very good at her exams The Sensuous Frame and worse still, Camien culture's focus on the performing arts as worthy left Velocity believing that her medical studies weren't as worthwhile. The Frail Gaze
Having finally passed her exams (it took ten goes!), Velocity was with Firestar and many of her former classmates The Sensuous Frame on a search for Windblade when their pilot, Vertex, died at the ship controls after they visited the planet Marasma. Luckily they were rescued by the Vis Vitalis and fell into the heroic Thunderclash's crew. The Frail Gaze She served as an extra medic but after a passing doctor fixed his spark, he abruptly took a turn for the worse.
Rather than attend the dying Thunderclash's pre-wake dance party, Velocity stayed in Thunderclash's med-bay, bringing First Aid and Minimus Ambus up to date with what had happened to Thunderclash since she joined up; the leader's ever-failing health, and his single-minded devotion to carving a map to Cyberutopia into the nearby wall. First Aid soon discovered that Thunderclash shouldn't be dying, as his war wound, the thing that was supposed to be killing him, was healed... he was dying from something else, something unknown. When pressed for information on who fixed the damage to Thunderclash's spark, Velocity was unable to describe the passing medic to performed the miracle, able to only come up with "she was normal" despite her best efforts.
The group then realized that Thunderclash was manipulating the readouts of the medical machines to send a warning to the crew. Before they could make sense of it, a knock from Thunderclash's trailer interrupted them The Sensuous Frame and they were besieged by monsters! Only a revived Thunderclash allowed them to escape and take refuge with some others... including Nautica, who congratulated "Lotty" on passing her exams. She helped Nightbeat identify their opponents as personality ticks and how to stop them, only for the things to burst in and overrun them... but don't worry, some other dude sorted it. Afterwards, Firestar successfully encouraged Velocity to join the Lost Light instead of returning home: to "help Nautica" but really to give her a place to properly work on her medical skills. The Frail Gaze
She had only just unpacked when First Aid had to leave, following orders from Optimus Prime. However, his leaving was interrupted when Skids burst in carrying a wounded Swerve. The two of them diagnosed his various problems but Swerve was too weak to operate on without knowing the exact cause of the illnesses. This meant the rest of the crew had to project their Holomatter avatars down to the enormous planet he was projecting.
After he had been found and diagnosed with a shoulder infection, she operated on him and saved his life, the first time she had ever done that to somebody. First Aid congratulated her and left her a 'phone' to call in case she ever did need help. While he was flying away, First Aid realised something important and ordered her to operate on Swerve's shoulder again, where she found a data slug in bullet form The One Where They Go to Earth that contained a message from Autobot spy "Agent 113", that, among other things, told them the secret base of the mythical Necrobot!
Velocity was one of the dozen crew members eager to learn more about Censere and went with her friend Nautica (and a recovered Swerve) to check it out. When the Necrobot came out to meet them though, Velocity stood far away while Nautica got close. The Not Knowing
Some time after, Velocity was startled in her lab to see Whirl's holomatter avatar float through. That was part of an incident that saw Cyclonus and Tailgate hospitalised The Lopsided Triangle and the latter shoot an energy wave through the ship. Velocity patched both robots up and kept an eye on the still-damaged Cyclonus (who refused to repair his bodywork), but while she kept Tailgate stable she couldn't get him to wake up. Speak, Memory: Part 1 Following an attack by a monstrous killer, Tailgate did wake up with newfound super strength, and Velocity reported that the 'bot's spark had been made susceptible for mutation by radiation exposure; acute stress-related trauma had caused Tailgate "to evolve" into a new breed of outlier. Speak, Memory! (Part 2)
Soon after Tailgate's sparksplosion, Powerflash and Strafe came to her complaining of sudden burnout. She put it down to bad engex. At Close of Day That was normal compared to Whirl being infected by scraplets disguised as a protoform! She had to fix him up and explain how he'd almost died at the hands of something he thought loved him, but knowing that made Whirl proud of the pests! Silent Light
When a time fissure opened in Swerve's, allowing people to look back at departed crew members, Velocity (and the medical diagnostic drone) chose to look back at her predecessors, First Aid and the deceased Ambulon. Back in the present, she and Thunderclash caught up with Firestar. No Guns, No Swords, No Briefcases
Velocity was relaxed enough around Megatron to be glad when he was happy, and thus turned down being part of a mutiny against him; thus getting brainwashed to forget it. On the day the mutiny began, she was checking over Megatron after a freakout and expressed concern that the Fool's Energon he was taking could alter his personality. The mutineers then had most of the people they wanted out zapped with a psychic lure, which distorted into a weapon and left her with several patients. When the afflicted decided to follow the signal to the source, Velocity went with them and was talked by Mainframe into taking Whirl with her (to get rid of 'im). Once they'd returned to the Necrobot's planet, Velocity and the others were chased inside the Necrobot base by the Decepticon Justice Division and informed by Getaway of exactly what had happened. With the threat so great, she decided to throw herself into work so she wouldn't have time to think about it. At Close of Day She got to work patching Nautica up before searching the base with her friend and Swerve, looking for any sign of assets. En route she expressed concern for Ten and, with Nautica, needled Swerve for wanting to treat his employee better. The Sun in Flight She also tried to call First Aid
Her group found the Necrobot's stash of slumbering organics in stasis pods and heard both Brainstorm's smooth logical reasons to run away anyway and Megatron's emotional speech to stay and protect the sleepers; Velocity, as with the others, stayed. The Sun in Flight

Velocity was dead excited when new arrivals showed up for her call but who was this rando guy, when she'd been trying to reach First Aid? Ratchet? Oh wait, that same Ratchet that she'd heard was a grumpy old git? Maybe she shouldn't have said that to his face, oops! Your Fierce Tears Ratchet continued to disappoint her, as she found his brusque nature and overconfidence grating. When he started reading her updates on what he'd missed, she snapped that she assumed it'd be after he'd finished patching up Megatron instead of during. To her dismay, he then spotted something she'd missed: Powerflash and Strafe's ill-effects earlier were what happens to Transformers given an artificial boost, and it indicated they'd been given such a boost by Tailgate's spark. To her greater dismay, this meant Tailgate was at risk of a sudden crash himself!
Drift had set it up so the crew could broadcast a message, to give burial instructions and say goodbye. Velocity, forced to properly think about her imminent death by the conversation, almost doubled over. At Close of Day In the end, she broadcast that she had no regrets and wanted that put on her spark casing, and for her body to be recycled. How Bright Their Frail Deeds Following this, Nautica called her and four others in for, to her delight, the Amica Endura ceremony. Velocity was invited into Nautica's spark for her determination, and agreed.
In the end, the Autobots charged the Decepticons rather than wait for them. At Close of Day
Three weeks later, her funerary message reached Cybertron and a distraught Windblade. How Bright Their Frail Deeds
