Black Convoy finally reaches Gigatron, but...
Synopsis
Somewhere in space, Black Convoy leads the Combatrons and Gelshark in an attack on Neo Brave Maximus, headquarters of the Autobot Dimensional Patrol. The Autobots launch the Super Spy Changers for a counterattack, but their damage to the enemy ship's engines causes it to crash into Maximus, allowing their foes entry into the base. Fire Convoy is unconcerned about the impact, their new base having been granted to them by Vector Sigma itself to replace the original Brave Maximus, though Speedbreaker worries that there are no human children around to power up Brave. When Fire Convoy requests a Member Select from Ai, he finds that her systems have been hacked and taken over by the enemy's own tactical computer, Dark Ai, and he is soon approached by Black Convoy and Baldigus who demand the release of Devil Gigatron.
However, Devil Gigatron is already there waiting for them, and to their shock he reveals that he has turned over a new leaf and given up on his evil ways. His time with the Dimensional Patrol and Skids has taught him of the threat posed by malevolent higher lifeforms like the Cloud beings and Zamojin, and he has decided to join his old friend Fire Convoy and dedicate his eternal life to protecting dimensions from such threats. He apologizes for brainwashing Black Convoy into a villain and asks him to join them, but Black Convoy is enraged, having embraced both his identity and the evil in his heart. Intent on fulfilling Gigatron's abandoned ambitions himself, Black Convoy attacks his former leader and attempts to absorb the source of power in his spark, but is held back by Gelshark who remains loyal. Gigatron transforms into his Devil Ostrich mode and extracts the evil he once infused Black Convoy with, reverting him against his will to his original form—the protoform of a heroic Autobot.

Notes
- Dark Ai debuted earlier in Baldigus's Unite Warriors Offshot chapter, "Strategy Meeting in an Earth Bath?!".
- The Combatrons' ship is based on their original one from when they were "Prototypes", as seen in "Koji Gets His Wish". That ship, in turn, was based on the Axalon as seen in the Beast Wars cartoon. To connect the three, this story refers to its ship as a Cyber Falcon-class from the late parts of the G2 War; Cyber Falcon was the name given to the Axalon in a TV Magazine issue published while the Beast Wars cartoon aired in Japan.
- The Neo Brave Maximus in this story is a new body for Plasma to control. The previous Maximus is noted as being given to the Autobots on Earth, with solitarium as a power source and with Zebres and Master, finally providing an in-fiction explanation for Brave Maximus's "Cybertron Base" release during Robotmasters. Consequently, this would seem to mean it was Zebres and Master, not Plasma and Brave, who travelled with the Kiss Players and ended up on Master for Fortress to find.
- Neo Brave Maximus is a virtual redeco of the Titans Return Fortress Maximus mold, fittingly enough.
- The Spy Changers make an appearance in their "Super Spy Changer" forms, which were previously established to have taken place in the grand Japanese Generation 1 timeline.
- Gigatron says he and Fire Convoy were once childhood friends, a detail from the first Car Robots toy catalog.
- Devil Gigatron's "Devil Ostrich Mode" was previously a somewhat unofficial mode given by designer Takashi Kunihiro, seen in the August 2011 issue of Figure King magazine.
