As the Autobot/Decepticon fight draws to a close, Cliffjumper and his mysterious charges begin travel to another world.

Synopsis

This story's events are followed by three simultaneous stories in different dimensions:

Starscream has trouble getting Jetfire off his tail. Ramjet makes an excuse so he doesn't have to help him. Concerned with how the battle is unfolding, Mirage turns invisible despite Hot Rod's objections.

Below, Cliffjumper, Skyfall, Breakaway and Landquake examine a large machine built into the wall. It introduces itself as 'The Caretaker', a supercomputer designed by Vector Sigma to give exposition to Breakaway as required during his assignment on Earth. Unfortunately, a CR chamber malfunction means that Breakaway's memories are a little fuzzy. The Caretaker informs them that something called 'reunification' is imminent, and that soon its purpose will be fulfilled. This makes little sense to the bots, so further elaboration on the nature of Rarified Energon is required. Once the computer decides that the bots are suitably informed, it creates a space bridge and asks them to enter it. Landquake is not convinced.

Meanwhile, above, Megatron and Optimus continue to fight while Grimlock takes on the Constructicons. This turns out to be a bad move, and they knock him to the ground. Soundwave tries to talk to Astrotrain, but Mirage shows up with a gun pointed right at him.

Below, Breakaway agrees with the Caretaker. Skyfall voices some objections, but he vanishes through the portal. Seeing this, Landquake comes to a decision and follows. Before Cliffjumper and Skyfall can decide what to do, Ramjet runs in to claim the Energon...

...And is promptly blown up by one of Cliffjumper's explosive charges. Above, the Autobots have turned the battle back in their favour. They allow the Decepticons to retreat. Finally, Skyfall and Cliffjumper step into a whole new world... or worlds...

Notes

  • This issue presents the strongest evidence thus far that Skyfall, Landquake, Breakaway, and the other two "fan club" combiner members form one of the Thirteen original Transformers. While the Fallen is guardian of entropy and Vector Prime is guardian of time, these combiner members form Nexus Prime, who is the guardian of rarified Energon.
  • Skyfall, Landquake, and Breakaway travel from here to the TransTech universe and their multiversal hub city, Axiom Nexus.
  • Cliffjumper is next seen in the Shattered Glass continuity, a mirror universe where Autobots are evil and Decepticons are heroic. Guess there was trouble in transit!
  • Rodimus was not as heavily damaged in battle here as he appeared to be in "Games of Deception". Ramjet, meanwhile, did not look like he had recently been blown up. It makes you wonder if something happened between here and "Games of Deception".
