Someone help me get this coffee can off my head!

The evil genius that plans to conquer the world! Baron Ironblood obscures his real identity behind a grim helmet and has plagued the Action Man Programme for years, not to mention the British electorate. Now, he is a lead member of a supervillain cabal bent on world domination!

Fiction

IDW Generation 1 continuity

Baron Ironblood joined forces with Doctor X, Storm Shadow, Iron Klaw, Garrison Kreiger, and Tomax Paoli to capture and exploit the Talisman. Enter The Shadow The Secret of the Mummy's Tomb Part of their plan involved taking over an old Cobra base on the moon, though to his irritation Action Man ended up there. Ironblood sensibly wanted to kill the hero but clashed with Doctor X, who wanted a more elaborate solution; this led to Mr Man bringing his allies up to the moon and the villains had to retreat without the Talisman. Remember, always be killing. Enter The Shadow

The cabal alerted Tomax that the heroes would be after him next The Secret of the Mummy's Tomb before the Baron went to Kalistan to speak with Iron Klaw and admire his new allies, the Predacons. Things looked up when Tomax and his mind-controlled robot Centurion captured Garrison Blackrock. They used a replica of the Talisman to experiment on Blackrock but found themselves punked when it turned out "Tomax" was Snake Eyes in disguise; the ninja beat up the baron before he and his friends ran off with data taken and the Predacons disabled. In the aftermath, Ironblood advocated cutting ties with the real Tomax and Centurion. The Iron Klaw

Notes

Maybe he's born with it
Maybe it's Maybelline.
  • Baron Ironblood originated as the leader of the Red Shadows, the evil faction from Action Force, G.I. Joe's British antecedent-slash-counterpart, who were eliminated from the Action Force story and replaced with Cobra when Hasbro acquired the property and folded it into G.I. Joe mythology. Notably, the old IPC Battle Action Force strip handled this transition by establishing Cobra Commander as a new identity for Ironblood... and though the Baron hasn't yet taken on the title of "Cobra Commander" in IDW continuity, First Strike does see him take command of Cobra!
    • Action Force spun out of Action Man like G.I. Joe spun out of G.I. Joe, hence him being tied to Action Man by IDW.
  • While he is normally depicted with his helmet on, his very first picture of all time, the cover of Battle #422, shows him in all his smirky glory.
