Merlin was believed by many, including King Arthur, to be an actual wizard, However, he possessed no actual mystical abilities and was a drunkard and womanizer. When the King called on him to aid in his battle against the Saxons, Merlin took a detour (while sipping copious amounts of alcohol) to visit a secret Cybertronian ship. He told his story to the Knights there, who bequeathed him with a staff before combining into Dragonstorm and trashing King Arthur's enemies. The staff gave Merlin access to highly advanced science beyond human comprehension, which was known as magic at the time. Viviane Wembly, his last descendant, believed that Merlin did not exist until her ancestry was revealed to her by Sir Edmund Burton. The Last Knight
Trivia
- Merlin's actor, Stanley Tucci, previously played KSI CEO Joshua Joyce in Transformers: Age of Extinction. In the months leading up to the film, it was believed Tucci was set to reprise his role as Joyce in Transformers: The Last Knight, until the film's release revealed he had been cast as a new character.
