Angels (使徒 Shito, lit. "Apostle") are massive giants that threaten humanity. They are able to resist most attacks thanks to the Absolute Terror Fields they generate.

After a long period of silence, the Angels reappeared on Earth, causing chaos. The UN proved unable to deal with the giants and turned to NERV to head the efforts to repel back the alien invaders. Just as the Angels closed on to Tokyo-3, the Autobots arrived and swore to not allow something like the Second Impact occur again. Mode "Eva" chapter 1 An Angel was possessed by the ghost of Starscream, transforming it into a monstrous half-robotic "Angel"-scream intent on destroying the Autobots. Mode "Eva" chapter 2 After scanning the Eva-01 and adopting its huge frame, Optimus Prime did battle with "Angel"-scream. Mode "Eva" chapter 3
