Rescue Roy
Rescue Roy was the first, and only, "ultra class" figure released under the 1-2-3 Transformers line (2001), transforming from a robot to an red, black, and gray fire engine, in three steps.
Rescue Roy has no accessories, but more than makes up for his lack of accessories by having several sound and light effects.
The main gimmicks of the 1-2-3 Transformers line are simplistic transformations and electronic sounds (and lights, in the case of Rescue Roy).
In both robot mode and vehicle mode, if you slide the light/siren on his left to the side, his eyes (in robot mode) and red lights on his chest/cab will light up. Rescue Roy can say nine phrases, overall, by sliding this button.
- "You're the real hero, partner!"
- "We'll blast the red stuff with the wet stuff!"
- Fire engine honking
- Fire engine siren
- "We're a tough, two man team."
- "Let's save the day, in a big way!"
- "When danger calls, I answer with action!"
- "Chief, prepare the water cannon!"
While in robot mode, there is a second button, that when pushed will cause his wings to flip out/expand from his backpack. At this point, Rescue Roy will utter "Let's take to the air!" and jet engine sound effects are heard.
In vehicle mode, a third button (found behind his head area) can be also be used while in fire engine mode, producing the following sound effects/phrases:
- Fire Engine honking followed by a fire engine siren
- "This is Rescue Roy, let's go to robot mode!"
Finally, if you don't push any buttons for an extended period of time, Rescue Roy will "shut down", stating "This is Rescue Roy one, signing off."
In 2003, Rescue Roy was slightly redecoed and released as part of the Japanese "Rescue Hero Go-Bots" line, as Roy.
