When the GoBots need to adopt new alternate modes, they use Modifiers to install new transformation circuits into their bodies.

Renegade Rhetoric

Both the Guardian and Renegades used modifiers to take on new vehicle modes. Some modifiers were designed to emulate Earth vehicles, while others gave GoBots Gobotronic vehicle modes. Beast Wars: Uprising

The dimension-hopping Antares Eight brought a modifier with them when they set up shop in a distant universe. They used the modifier to heal themselves, eschewing the CR chambers that the native Maximals and Predacons utilized. Cultural Appropriation

Notes

• The modifier was a device that first appeared in the Challenge of the GoBots cartoon as a way of explaining how the GoBots first adopted Earth vehicle modes. Their healing properties saw use in the episode "The Fall of GoBotron", where the Guardians used a modifier to repair Leader-1.
