Fiction
IDW Generation 1 continuity
Long ago, Septimus Prime rose to power in Protohex and forced gladiators to fight for energon. One of his last acts was forcing the twins Galvatron and Arcee to fight and kill each other. When Arcee refused to slay her brother however, Septimus threatened that they would both die before Megatronus arrived and slew Septimus's entourage. Hoisting the weaker Prime, Megatronus offered to incorporate Protohex into the Darklands but Septimus refused. Megatronus had in fact been speaking to the gladiators below and threw Septimus to his fate.
Vector Prime informed his brethren of Septimus's demise. Solus Prime didn't care, Nexus Prime did and Onyx Prime said Septimus Prime had never been one of them. Origin Myths
Notes
- A fourteenth Prime on ancient Cybertron might raise a few eyebrows at first but it is established that IDW's Thirteen are not the demigods they usually are but simply charismatic geniuses who emerged as tribal leaders, so who knows how many Primes might have been running around? That said, how easily he's slain, his hedonistic attitude, and Onyx's dismissal of him seems to paint him as something of a pretender to the title.
- "Septimus" is "seventh" in Latin, which sort of fits with "quintus" ("fifth"), but was probably just picked because it sounds ancient and Latinate regardless of its meaning.
