Doctor Arkeville joins the Binaltech conflict and aids the Decepticons in fighting back against the Autobots' new might.

Synopsis

Thanks to the power of their new Binaltech bodies, the Autobots of Earth succeed in driving the Decepticons off the planet. Although beaten, the Decepticons are not out of the game yet, breaking up into smaller groups and going into hiding on various other planets, awaiting their chance for revenge.

Having just disposed of one menace, the Autobots and their allies in the Earth Defense Command could not have foreseen the sudden, secretive formation of another threat against their safety arising from within human society itself. The Decepticons' old human ally, Doctor Arkeville, resolves to break the Autobot-human alliance, and targets the Binaltech Project as the representation of this partnership. Becoming aware of Arkeville's intentions, Starscream makes contact with his old comrade, and offers him Bombshell's cerebro-shell technology to use towards his goals. Combining the cerebro-shells with his hypno-chip designs, Arkeville is able to take control of the minds of several individuals working on the Binaltech Project, and through them, gains access to the Project itself, secretly subverting several of its aspects and putting them to use preparing Binaltech bodies for the damaged Decepticons. The first to undergo the process is Dead End, who is implanted in a body that the human operatives who constructed it believed they were building for Sunstreaker.

Notes

  • This chapter of the Binaltech story was printed in the pack-in booklet included with the Dead End Binaltech toy. Dead End's reconstruction is detailed in his bio and Tech Specs also included in the booklet, rather than in the story chapter itself.
  • Doctor Arkeville previously appeared in the Generation 1 cartoon episodes "The Ultimate Doom" and "Countdown to Extinction", as did his mind-controlling hypno-chips.
  • Dead End's booklet notes that his body was constructed by Symultech Industries, from the Generation 1 episode "Trans-Europe Express". Its being intended for Sunstreaker is a reference to the fact that the actual toy was originally intended to be released as Sunstreaker. While Dead End was the first to be released, Alternators and Binaltech Asterisk versions of Sunstreaker would eventually see the light of day a few years later.
