Codder

Codder is an alien from the IDW portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Codder is a member of some hulking species with more muscles than brains, though at the very least he's smarter than his subordinate Garnak (or so he claims). Of the two, he's also more trusting of their current boss, the "Admiral".

Fiction

IDW Generation 1 continuity

Originally hailing from a "collective" of some sort, Codder and Garnak were sold to the captain of an Ilxian starship, where they worked until most of the crew met their unfortunate end when they smashed into a planet. Aside from them, the only other survivor was an Ilxian scientist, who began to call himself an Admiral and set out to repair the ship. Codder and Garnak found themselves treated poorly and ordered around a lot, but put their trust in him regardless. Even when the Admiral's experiments to find an adequate power source resulted in damage to the atmosphere, Codder continued to believe in him and disregarded all the methane rain as a coincidence.

Three solar years after they were stranded, Codder and Garnak witnessed Rodimus crash on the planet. Following a hunch that the strange light on his chest was important, Codder brought him back to the Admiral, overriding Garnak's suggestion to show him to the "Jangle Man", another robot who also lived on the planet. Rodimus escaped once the Admiral tried to use him as a power source, prompting Codder and Garnak to try and chase him down, but only Garnak succeeded.

When Garnak returned with Rodimus, he asked Codder and the Admiral to leave the ship and retrieve their prize. They did so, attributing the need to do things themselves to Garnak's stupidity, and fell right in a trap. Rodimus had convinced Garnak and the Jangle Man to help him steal the Admiral's ship, and before they could stop him, they were attacked by a Chaosteros summoned by the Jangle Man.

According to Garnak and the Jangle Man, Codder and the Admiral were well armed and able to defeat the Chaosteros, but even so, they would remain stuck on an inhospitable planet. The Stars My Destination
