Æthelric is a human priest. When the Man of Iron came to rescue the castle Stanshem from its siege around 1080 A.D., Æthelric was called upon to bless him and to ask him to please go away because you scare us, kaythx. He probably also illustrated the manuscript retelling this tale.Man of Iron!

In the actual story, Æthelric's name was lettered 'Aethelric,' 'cuz ligatures are confusing to kids.
