Fiction
Transformers Legends anthology
When human archaeologists uncovered a cave filled with primitive language, Mini-Con Laserbeak translated it for them. The markings told of a time when the Maximals and Predacons crash-landed on prehistoric Earth, though the stranded Transformers were perceived by the protohumans as gods. When one of the archeologists, Jessica Theist, later touched one of the markings, she was bestowed a vision of the Maximals' and Predacons' battles. In her vision she saw "a huge fire ant easily the size of a truck." Fire in the Dark
Ask Vector Prime
The Beast Wars this Inferno participated in were fought not over energon but over Mini-Cons. Inferno was killed in the course of the conflict. At the moment of his death, his spark was abducted by Unicron, who plucked him from Aurex 1104.30-JH Zeta to fight in the Universe War. His disembodied essence found the corpse of the recently deceased Red Alert from Viron 903.0 Beta, allowing him to return to life... although he was disappointed to learn that Red Alert's weapons were designed to extinguish fires, rather than start them. When Optimus Primal rescued him, he swore allegiance to his new queen. Although he was deprived of his usual weaponry, he remained a savage and bloodthirsty warrior. Inferno would eventually fight alongside an alternate universe-incarnation of himself who had become a Vehicon. Ask Vector Prime, 2015/08/13

- A redeco of the 2001 Robots in Disguise Prowl toy in a deco similar to the Generation 1 character Red Alert, Universe Inferno transforms into a "Fire Chief" Lamborghini Diablo. The toy features a pair of pressure-launch missile launchers, which attach to his car mode spoiler or to his robot mode forearm, as well as attaching to the car mode's light bar in robot mode to form a jet pack.
- The same mold is used by the 2003 Universe versions of Sideswipe and Sunstreaker.
Notes
- Universe Inferno was originally supposed to be a new form of Generation 1 Red Alert. When the naming issue was brought up on Transformers brand designer Aaron Archer's Orson's World forum, he said that the "Inferno" name was a mistake that somehow passed and that it was too late to do anything about it. In an attempt to deal with the confusion, the biography 3H created for this toy to be used on Hasbro's Transformers website stated that this was an alternate universe version of Beast Wars Inferno. Though the biography was never published,[1] Ask Vector Prime would canonize it over a decade later. In doing so, Ask Vector Prime partially restored the original naming intent of the toy, explaining that Universe Inferno had acquired his body from a Robots in Disguise Red Alert.
- Inferno's Universe mass-release and his wavemate Ratchet were given the "group" name "Machine Robot Rescue", presumably in an attempt by Hasbro to block competitor Bandai from using the name for a potential importation of their Machine Robo Rescue toy series from Japan to the United States.
