Possible real world reference?

[edit]

Not sure if this was intentional, which is why I didn't mark it on the page, but Whirl's imagined death trap for Chuck (falling into a trash compactor with sharks that have lava breath and laser eyes) sounds eerily similar to a death trap imagined in an Angry Video Game Nerd episode (falling into a pit, walls closing in, sharks with laser eyes swimming in lava), which was later included in the AVGN video game. Plausible reference, or am I just seeing a connection where there isn't any? -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 09:35, 14 January 2019 (EST)

Just coincidence. They are both just massive pile ons of multiple traps that have been used in fiction. It's making fun of a trope of fiction. --Khajidha (talk) 09:47, 14 January 2019 (EST)
That's what I figured. The two just lined up so heavily that I kind of did a double take and had to think about it, but it's hardly something worth pressing. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 09:49, 14 January 2019 (EST)
The way you describe, the first thing that comes to mind is the Austin Powers films, but I doubt it's a ref to anything beyond a somewhat common trope. Escargon (talk) 09:58, 14 January 2019 (EST)
