Drop pods are small vehicles from the IDW portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Drop pods are small transports similar to escape pods, capable of transporting a small group of soldiers planet-side and penetrating lattice forcefields.

Rotorstorm volunteered to pilot two drop pods simultaneously, carrying the Wreckers to Garrus-9's surface. After penetrating a lattice forcefield set up around the former Autobot prison set on the planet, both were shot down by Decepticon Predator Jets. Last Stand of the Wreckers #2
