Originally founded in 1978, Tiger Electronics produced phonographs and other items before striking it big in the world of hand-held digital / electronic devices. Although perhaps best known for a long series of hand-held digital games, many of which were based on licensed properties, it was also behind a number of other commercial successes such as the BrainWarp, the Talkboy, and Furby. Tiger Electronics has been a part of Hasbro since the latter acquired the former in 1998.
