Ratchet is one of the oldest Autobots on Optimus Prime's team. Though sporting a bit of paunch, he's a true veteran, and he's the only one of the group to have seen real fighting and war in the past. A leader figure for his comrades, he's got a bit of a military drill sergeant aura to him. He also likes bashing Bumblebee on the head when 'Bee's being a smart-ass.

He's not Kup. Honestly.

According to the historical files Prime watches in the beginning of the pilot episode, the Great War took place many millions of years ago. According to Ratchet, he was in that war, which makes him...pretty old. Also, the fights made him bitter, mostly regarding heroism.

He enjoys grumbling and being sarcastic, just like any old man.

His special power is based on magnetism.
