The crew of the U1 were hiding out from the Alchemy-Seven's crew in Iacon's religious quarter during the Festival of Lost Light when Drift, Pipes, and Riptide came by looking for "wheels" and the U1 caught Drift's eye. After the most cursory of negotiations he handed over a billion shanix to its owners in exchange for the keys. Smelling a rat, Riptide returned later and found the ship's owners to be less than savoury characters but was unable to warn anyone after they beat him senseless, meaning that he missed the newly renamed Lost Light's launch.
