Tripp was hanging out with his girlfriend Tina Lark and her friends at the Brighton Falls Boardwalk when Charlie Watson accidentally walked into him, covering him with drink. Not one to squander an opportunity, he stripped off his shirt and suggested the group head off.

Sometime later, Tripp was at a party on a beach-side clifftop, and challenged the crowd present to jump into the sea with him. He got only one taker, Charlie, whom he quickly recognised as someone who'd been in the school dive team with his sister. Tripp jumped off first, ending up safely in the water and shouted up for Charlie to dive in too. Bumblebee
