Things come to head in the "Shattered Glass" universe, things that will change the multiverse forever...
Synopsis
It is the year 2015 in the "Shattered Glass" universe. The evil Autobots have once again tried to destroy the heroic Autobots. And once again, they have failed. Onboard the Autobot Sky Lynx, the defeated Autobots travel back to Cybertron. Sky Lynx meekly informs Rodimus that his engines cannot take the strain of all the weight onboard. Pleased, Rodimus addresses the crew, informing them of the situation, and figuring that since some of them are worse off than others, they'll be the volunteers. The heavily damaged Autobots are left to drift out in space, and Rodimus carries the prone body of Optimus Prime to the door, smugly telling his glorious leader that it hurts him to do this. With Prime gone, Rodimus declares that he's taking over, and all the Autobots, unwilling to disagree, fall in line.
Out in space, the abandoned Autobots float, death seemingly certain. Prime awakes when he hears a voice calling out to him and demands to know who it is. As a massive planet comes into view, the voice emanates from it, telling him that he...
...is Unicron.

Notes
Continuity notes
- The story, a prologue to next year's storyline, takes place in between the fourth and fifth chapters.
- When last seen in "Transhuman", Rodimus was operating his own Autobot faction on Earth as "Rodimus Prime," having betrayed Optimus and abandoning him on Cybertron. It's never really explained why he's returned under his command, but one can assume that with the war falling to the Decepticon's favor, Optimus is willing to overlook certain past actions. Similarly, Brawn, Ratchet, Blaster, Tailgate, and Rewind (plus Prowl and Inferno, as "Coalescence" would reveal) had all joined under Rodimus' rogue faction, while Sky Lynx had served under Alpha Trion.
- Chromedome was mentioned by Optimus as a "head on the shelf" in "Dungeons & Dinobots"; at the time, it was more likely than not meant that he was dead, but here it's shown to be a lot more literal.
Transformers references
- This comic, and much of the resultant storyline, is the Shattered Glass take on The Transformers: The Movie. The story takes place in 2015, 10 years after the year the film took place in. This chapter of the comic is a pastiche of the scene where Starscream leaves Megatron to die and the subsequent seen where Megatron encounters Unicron, with both paraphrase and verbatim dialogue, "I still function" and all that jazz. Sky Lynx takes the place of Astrotrain, while the Autobots chosen to be abandoned (Prowl, Ratchet, Brawn, and Inferno) were among the Autobots killed on the shuttle to Autobot City by the Decepticons (except for Inferno, who replaces Ironhide due to his death in BotCon 2012's "Invasion".
- The comic also takes some notes from IDW Publishing's More than Meets the Eye; all the Autobots who stay with Rodimus were characters in that comic, serving on the starship Lost Light. In particular, Rewind is sitting on Chromedome, referencing their counterpart's in that series status as being married.
- Of the new characters and designs this issue:
- Tailgate is based on his positive-universe counterpart's Generations "Thrilling 30" toy, in the colors of the Brazilian Transformers toy Camaro (specifically his blue and yellow release). Camaro was an evil Malignus, and was redecoed from Windcharger, who also shared Tailgate's original toy's mold.
- Swerve too is based on his positive-universe counterpart's Generations "Thrilling 30" toy, in the colors of Brazilian Transformers toy Pick-Up (specifically his green and purple release). Pick-Up was also an evil Malignus, redecoed from Gears, whom Swerve shares his original toy's mold with.
- Trailbreaker is based on his positive-universe counterpart's Generations "Thrilling 30" toy, in the colors of blue release of the Diaclone "4WD Hi-Lux" mold, the original version of the toy that would become Trailbreaker.
- Chromedome's head is based on the head of his positive-universe counterpart's Timelines toy, in the colors of Decepticon Headmaster Apeface.
- Prowl is based on his positive-universe counterpart's Universe toy, in the colors of the Mexican release of the original Prowl toy.
- Sort of the odd man out, Inferno shares a body with his positive-universe counterpart, but in a black and yellow-green color scheme, based on the outfit a real-life fireman would wear.
- Unicron is based on the colors of his original 1986 prototype toy, with the yellow of the rings, horns, maw, and equator replaced with white.
