The Community Portal page is meant to serve as a central location for all editors and readers of MediaWiki to keep track of what is going on throughout the wiki. Here on the portal itself, announcements and policy changes and the like will be posted.

The portal's talk page (Transformers Wiki talk:Community Portal) is the place to go if you have a question to discuss that potentially affects large sections of the wiki. For example, if you want to propose a new template for articles about cartoon episodes, a lot of other editors may be interested in that topic. If you post your ideas on the talk page for a particular episode's article, it may not be noticed by everybody. But, put it on the Community Portal's talk page, and hopefully you will get more input.

Style guide updates

The proposed style guide found at User:Steve-o/Proposed Style Guide has now replaced the Wiki's old help files. You can see the current/updated pages by following the "help" link in the left sidebar, or by clicking here: Help:Contents.

Open questions on site policy

The following questions about site policy are considered open for discussion. If you have input on them, please post to the talk page.

  • In cases where an article title needs more than one qualifier for disambiguation, should they be listed in a single set of parentheses, or separately? That is, "(UT Mini-Con)" or "(UT) (Mini-Con)"? The scheme used on Wikipedia allows for multiple-word qualifiers. Using a single set of parentheses is more brief. The qualifiers used on this Wiki are sometimes treated more like "tags", however, and as such it may seem more natural to some to avoid combining them.
  • Currently site policy is to make all article titles singular if at all possible. In some cases, however, the article's topic is the properties of a group as a whole, rather than properties of individual members of some group. Would, for example, the article Autobot be better titled Autobots? The article is not about "what is an Autobot?" but "what are the Autobots?" It is an inherently plural topic.

In early April, an image being used in an article devoted to a fan club comic was removed at the request of its copyright holder. (See Talk:Vector Prime: In the Beginning for details.) Since then, some templates have been created for tagging images that are uploaded. Please take a look at these templates, and use them as appropriate when uploading a new image:
