Hot Rod and Soundwave team up against the Quintesson Scientist.

Synopsis

In a cybertronian mountainscape, Soundwave attracts a group of robotic birds, training him to obey him, and accepting him in his internal cavity, christens him Laserbeak.

The resistance group end up going underground on the scientist search, and ponder how to get past the door until Soundwave imitates a prosecutor, opening the door via voice-activation. he storms through alone with Hot Rod pursuing him, but in the end, the rest get left behind.

Finding the scientist, they are shocked to find a horde of multiple Soundwaves, as the scientist has a habit of collecting Soundwaves. While the others fail to enter, Soundwave refuses to be part of the scientist's collection, and noticing Soundwave's damage, he repairs him... only for Soundwave to fire in his face. They manage to defeat him, but they find the control nodes not on the underground computer, and are faced with endless chains of scientists. The latest scientist than strangles them, but as he feeds a pod, Soundwave sends Laserbeak to the surface group with the source code, and they quickly set off. The judge then reveals he siphons off energon from the native cybertronians to make his judges... and to Hot Rod's horror, he is also draining from the AllSpark.

With the source code, Perceptor summons Air Hammers that initiates all to transform.. and they escape alive. Knocking out the new judge, they escape to witness their success, but quickly find the ship being swarmed by more tentacles. And shields.

Quotes

Notes

Continuity notes

  • Soundwave was said to have been attached to his minions in past iterations, but here, this was not always the case.

Transformers references

  • The Soundwave duplicates have varieties with black or white instead of blue, referencing Soundblaster and the Shattered Glass Soundwave. Likewise, the Soundwave collection harkens back to the horde of Sound Wave toys from the Animated universe.
  • Soundwave fires his shoulder cannon, something rarely seen on versions with said weapon.
  • Soundwave quotes a famous line his G1 counterpart was well known for: Laserbeak, eject!
