Hammerbyte is the perfect choice for a mission in an aquatic environment. Why wouldn't he be chosen? With dedication to his job and a shark mode that tears through the water, he is the ideal deep water Autobot.

Hammerbyte was assigned the duty of guarding the Dweller deep in the Argon Sea. Unfortunately, during this time, the treacherous Titan managed to brainwash him, and under his influence, he broke through Iaconus's medical bay and kidnapped the prone Cityspeaker Windblade. The Autobots Chromia and Bumblebee took off after him in a shuttle, and he was stunned by Bumblebee's stinger, though Bee himself fell down to the Dweller's waiting tentacles. The shock of the stinger ended up waking him up from his trance, and after a quick explanation, he joined Chromia in saving her friends, but upon re-entering the Dweller, the Titan brainwashed him again, and was pitted against Chromia alongside a similarly-brainwashed Bumblebee. The fembot managed to use Bee's stinger against them, and they escaped with Windblade before the Dweller claimed their shuttle. Hammerbyte returned Windblade to the Autobots and apologized for his misdeeds under the Dweller's influence, and dove back in the Argon Sea to continue his duty of Guarding the titan.
